Google's Minion April Fools' Prank Backfires

Google has said it is "truly sorry" after an April Fools' prank function it added to Gmail provoked a furious backlash from users.

The search giant uploaded a new button to emails on Friday morning which allowed users to send recipients an animated GIF of a Minion dropping a microphone and walking away.
But angry Gmail users said they had inadvertently hit the new 'Mic Drop' send feature, which was right next to the standard send button.
Some complained the messages had gone to their boss, colleagues, clients or prospective employers.
